Roger Brooke TaneyRoger Brooke Taney, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1836 to 1864, began his career as a lawyer in Frederick County. He practiced law in Frederick from 1801 until 1823.




The Roger Brooke Taney house is open to the public for guided tours on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. from April through mid-December. The site is closed on select holidays including, Easter and Independence Day.

Bring your group to the Roger B. Taney House for a unique look into a Georgian-style working class home. All tours are led by trained guides and can be tailored to your group's interests and needs. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more and group tours cost $5.00 per person. To book a tour, please contact the Education Coordinator at 301.663.1188 x 105 or by e-mail.
